With each edition of the Society’s Forum magazine, “Forum 15” highlights elements of popular culture related to the theme. Our goal is to affirm that the ideas we discuss in Forum have a vivid presence in our daily lives in the books we read, the shows we watch, the songs we sing, the movies we see and the buildings we admire.

Forum’s Fall 2026 issue will explore the experience of a change of career, and the content will include “Forum 15,” our regular feature that lists neat works of culture related to our theme.

Do you know of a memorable book, movie, play, song or piece of art that celebrates a change of career? For Forum Editor Danny Heitman, a relevant example is “Mailman,” Stephen Starring Grant’s 2025 memoir about becoming a postal carrier in Appalachia after losing his corporate job during the pandemic. It’s a story about transitioning into a new line of work. We’d love to hear your suggestions about works of literature, film or art that explore this change-of-career theme. Can you think of any?
