GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi relies heavily on the generosity of its members to help support its scholarships and awards program. Thanks to those who are committed to honor and excellence, Phi Kappa Phi is able to award more funds through its competitions than any other honor society.

Commemorative Opportunities

Named fellowships as well as study abroad grants are but two types of commemorative opportunities. There are two ways to make gifts of a commemorative nature. One is through a bequest. The other is through a current gift.

The late Walt and Heide Hohenstein provided for the Phi Kappa Phi Foundation, Inc. in their estate plans. Their visionary philanthropy will live in perpetuity through endowed fellowships bearing their names. Dr. Hohenstein was a former president of Phi Kappa Phi.

The memory of a paternal grandfather was honored by William J. Wolf who contributed $100,000 to endow a fellowship. The Alfred M. Wolfe Graduate Fellowship is awarded annually to a student studying agriculture, classical languages, or English.

Persons interested in a commemorative opportunity are encouraged to contact Dr. Perry Snyder at 800.804.9880, ext. 21.

Planned Giving

A "planned gift" is easily defined as any gift given for any amount, given for any purpose, whether for current or deferred use, that requires the assistance of a professional person, a qualified volunteer, or the donor's advisors to complete. In addition, it includes any gift that is carefully considered by a donor in light of estate and financial plans. Such gifts can be as simple as a bequest made through a codicil to one's will or as involved as a charitable lead or remainder trust. All can be designated to a specific program or activity. For more information on making a planned gift to the Phi Kappa Phi Foundation, Inc., contact Dr. Perry Snyder at 800.804.9880, ext. 21.

The Marcus Urann Society

All who provide for The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi through a planned gift, whether revocable or irrevocable, will be members of a group named for Marcus Urann, who, as a student at the University of Maine, founded in 1897 what became Phi Kappa Phi. Each will receive a specially framed certificate, be acknowledged in Society publications, and be accorded permanent recognition at Phi Kappa Phi's Headquarters.

Matching Gifts

Maximize your investment in Phi Kappa Phi!

Many companies encourage their employees to make charitable contributions by matching employee gifts dollar-to-dollar. Check with your personnel office to find out whether your employer matches charitable donations. If so, they can provide you with a Matching Gift form, which should be completed and sent with your gift.
